Communication – More Than One Way

Let us just review where we’ve come so far in this lecture. We’ve established that we humans have a lot more methods of communication than we care to remember, from smart phones, social media and right down to our own body language. We’ve also established that we all have our own spirit and that it resides always connected to the spirit world. If it didn’t – it wouldn’t exist and if our spirit didn’t exist, neither would we!

We’ve also discussed that communication with the spirit world can simply be a voiced prompt, like a prayer essentially. So now let us move on a little more and briefly look at some, not all, of the methods that our spirit friends can use to communicate back. This list is not in any order of importance, neither is it comprehensive.

The most common way that most people think communicating with the spirit is done is through a ‘medium’. Examine that word a little closer. What does medium mean. A medium is a method or instrument to complete a task. The petrol is the medium used to make a car run. The air is the medium we need to breath. The camera is the medium to take pictures. So a spiritual or psychic medium is the person relaying the communication. Years ago, mediums were called ‘channellers’ which is probably a better word. Often these days mediums refer to themselves as ‘sensitives’.

The exciting news is that, no matter what people might tell you to the contrary, you are already a medium. You have everything within you. You are no different than anyone else and you and I are alike in that ability. Why you probably didn’t realise it is because of something called ‘conditioning’. From the moment your body entered this world, you have been conditioned by the environment and those you’ve been around. Parents, friends, roll models, media, society have all conditioned you to what you are right now. Was the sceptic born a sceptic or were they conditioned to that way of thinking?

Your conditioning can be reversed. We call that process, ‘unfoldment’. Basically it involves stripping back your current thinking and beliefs by a process of development over time. So, if you want to become a really good medium, you can do so at any time you choose. Put in the time to learn, to unlearn and to allow the process and you might just be the best medium in the future.

That is not to say you are not a medium right now. You are, after all, reading this Spiritual lecture. That shows already that you are interested and therefore your inner spirit is winning. You are on that journey (to use a cliche).

Is being a medium the end all and be all? Nope absolutely not. In the same way that there are millions of actors throughout the world and only a very small number ever get into the media, as with singers and any other ‘celebrity’ status. In the same way, there are millions of mediums throughout the world. It just is that a very small few choose to work in the public eye.  So if you have visions of grandeur about mediums or becoming one – forget it. That is the wrong motive and not what being a medium is all about. A medium is a medium – nothing more nothing less. You are a medium, I am a medium, your enemy is a medium and your pets are probably mediums too.

Mediumship works in many ways. You might hear sounds from the spirit world (known as clairaudience). You might see spirits (clairvoyant). You might smell spirit messages (clairescent). You might feel spirit (clairsentience). There are several more ways such as through taste, a knowing, through direct chanelling or by simply feeling how spirit are feeling. You can look those up in your own time.

All the methods  mentioned so far of communicating with the spirit world involve you and therefore your state of being. Thankfully though, that is not the only methods available to those in the spirit world. In fact, their arsenal of methods goes beyond my own knowledge and available space to write about.

Here are a few other methods of communication that the spirit world might choose to use.

  • Apporting objects
  • Direct voice
  • Manipulation and moving of earthbound objects
  • Ouija boards
  • Automatic writing
  • Spiritual art
  • Healing
  • Meditation
  • Dreams
  • Visions
  • Ectoplasm
  • Tarot & Cards
  • Divination methods, such as pendulums, runes, tea leaves etc.
  • Clouds, stars & natural elements
  • Orbs & energy
  • Flowers
  • Colours
  • Smoke & Fires
  • Crystal balls

I could go on and on. Spirit have every way imaginable to get a message to us. They do, and they will communicate using whatever methods they can.

One of my favourite phrases is ‘stack the odds.’ If those friends in the spirit world are communicating as openly and freely as I have said, then it is up to you and me to ‘stack the odds’ in our favour. That involves being aware, being prepared, being receptive and being trustful.

And as this lecture draws to a close we have indeed found the flaw. We’ve stumbled across the fly in the ointment. It’s you. Yes you. You reading this. You disbelieving my words. You and your negative thoughts. You doubting yourself. You doubting me.  I am not the problem, nor are my words. They’re all accurate and all truthful. You are the next issue. Let me ask you one final question. Not ‘do you believe in life after death?’ No, here is my final question, and to be blunt – your starting point.

Do you WANT TO believe in life after death?
